Prophet Muhammad’s (S.A.W) close friend and Counsellor Hazrat Abu Bakar (R.A) was born in 573 and passed away on 13 Hijri, August 23, 634. For his confirmation of the Mi’raj, the Prophet’s night journey and ascent to the heavens, the Prophet gave him the title al-Siddique (“the righteous one”).

Who is the Present Caliph of Islam?
There is no current Caliph of Islam. After the first Caliph (Khalifa) “Successor”, Hazrat Abu Bakr R.A, the chain of a successor went along and Dynastic Caliphate began. In 1517 CE the Ottomans continued to maintain their claim as the Islamic Caliphate. Dynastic struggles later brought about the Caliphate’s decline.
In 1258, after Mongols attacked Baghdad, the Caliphate was abolished by Mustafa Ataturk, the first President of Turkey, ending the era of the Caliphate.
What is the concept of Khilafat in Islam?
